RE: Bill is way to high

Was the boy negligent in mowing the lawn? I'm not sure I would hold him responsible at all. Accidents happen and if there were rocks in the yard he didn't know about I'm not sure he should carry any burden. He was hired to mow. Perhaps the homeowner should have been responsible for clearing rocks out of the yard. Then it could be a rogue rock that had worked up through the yard. It was an accident, but I would not find the kid at fault unless he negligently ran over rocks with the mower. It would have meant a lot to me that the 10-year old came to me to fess up. I would have thanked him for his honesty and told him not to worry about it. If he's helping his mom pay the bills, the time you have him working it off for you he could be getting paid for other work to buy groceries. And I believe homeowners would cover it anyway. Dale

If your night guard still fits, it might be beneficial to wear it at night in order to prevent a recurrence. Just a thought. Dale

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Carole, I am so sorry about Baxter. He was so loved and I am sure he felt your love around him. I hope that Wolfie understands his role now and you will be able to find a solution to his problems. I am praying for you, Baxter and Wolfie. Dale

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Hi Gentle Spirit, If I read your post correctly, you took Baxter to the ER vet and was quoted those prices. My regular vet is much, much cheaper than the ER vet we have used. Could you try your regular vet? I am so sorry for your dilemma. Praying for a resolution soon. Dale

RE: Smoke Alarms....yes or no ?

I prefer to have a fire suppression system. We have one in our engine compartment, generator compartment and refrigerator compartment. We also have a propane detector, a carbon monoxide detector and two smoke detectors in the coach. Dale

RE: The Power of Prayer....Harlee and I are asking for yours...

We use a ramp for our boyz. The key is to familiarize them with it. When she is outside, you can just lay it on the ground and let her sniff it. Coax her to walk on it with a treat while it is flat on the ground. Eventually she will come to not fear it. I am so glad she is home and doing fine. My sister's lab had a similar tumor removed only it was larger. Lucky, true to his name, lived several years after that and he was an old dog when he had his surgery. Here's to you and Harlee. She is indeed one special gal. Dale

RE: Our TT has been stolen!

I tell this story just to let you know people do sometimes get their property back. One of my Dad's friends bought a new suburban in south Texas. A few weeks later, while he was inside a store shopping, thieves whisked it away and it was gone when he returned with his purchases. Fast forward a couple months. He was across the border shopping in the little border town and ran across his SUV parked in a parking place. His license plate was still on it. He still had the keys for it on his keyring which was in his pocket. He climbed aboard and drove it back home. Sweet. Dale

RE: Implantable Electronic devices ( like Pacemaker)

DH has an ICD as well, for 3 1/2 years. We have a little Honda generator. It is very low maintenance and about the only thing DH has to do to it is start it and occasionally tweak it. It has posed no problem for him. He also has been told not to "lean over" a car engine because of the magnetic field produced by the alternator. It is my understanding that these conditions will cause it to "shut off" temporarily. Also, he cannot go through the walk-through scanner at the airport. The techs there say that the wand is worse, but I believe the problem is being "surrounded" in the walk-through device. But they cooperate and wand him instead. The doctors are really kind of vague about instructions regarding this. We have a friend who has been told he cannot mow his yard even on a garden tractor. But then, his device is implanted in his abdomen, which is where they put them 30 years ago. Be more specific with your doctor next time you visit. Also, check for a website for your device. Medtronic has a site called "traveling with your device" which gives more information. Our doctor didn't even know about it. The little adjustments we had to make are minimal considering the device has saved DH's life 3 times. :) I certainly am glad he has it. The suggestions about measuring the magnetic field, etc., I think would be useful. Dale

RE: Medical Info

We have been full timing for over 3 years and DH has had his coumadin levels checked at least monthly sometimes more during that time. We use LabCorp. We are in the RGV now in Mission and just had it done last week. There are numerous LabCorp throughout the Valley. There is also Quest Diagnostics. We just use LabCorp all over the country. Dale

RE: Campgrounds around Carmel, Indiana

We use Glowood Campground campground when we are in the Indy area for doctor appointments. Kinda no frills, but adequate. $25 a night, I think. 18 miles from Carmel, exit 14 off I-69N. About 1 mile from the exit. You go north, then turn left on W700S. Only 10 pull through sites that are easy access. Rest of the place is in dense tree cover. Old campground but he does have these sites in the open with 50Amp. Dale

RE: Lint????in Splendide Washer Dryer Combo???

On my Splendide, I found by accident if you run your fingers into the crevices on the rubber seal on the front (inside the door), you will get a little bit of lint from time to time. Also, check the outside vent hatch. Mine will expel lint from there and sometimes it hangs up. Dale

RE: To purchase a RV lot in a park... or not!

If someone owns a lot, wouldn't they have a deed to the property? If they don't have a deed, then they would be paying rent. How would they not know that? I know people put improvements on rental lots, but that is their choice. Anything not attached they could take with them when they leave. Dale

RE: Activities, Attractions, Dining, Rio Grande Valley TX 08-09

Thank you Dale(Scottiemom) for the recipe. Betsy made it yesterday and it was awesome. The only change we had to make was the seafood, we could not find frozen crayfish here, but we did find a frozen seafood combination which had fish, shrimp, squid, octopus, mussels and clam. She fried the seafood in EVOO before adding it to the pot. Everything else was the same including the can of crab meat. She says she will back off on the cayenne pepper some, as it was hot but did not ruin the taste. Those that have not made it yet, you're missing out on an awesome meal. Will try the left over on a bed of rice later this week. we'll see you guys in January. B & B Glad you enjoyed it, Bob. I was at WalMart yesterday here in Mission and they had the crawfish tails in with the other frozen seafood. Not everyone carries it though. Dale

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

The big picture, Richard, is that you love them all. By keeping Sarah, another deserving stray would never have the chance at surviving and finding a forever home. It will be hard to do, but Sarah is a wonderful dog and someone out there will love her just as much as you do. I will say a prayer for Sarah and for you and Sue. Dale
